Sharing our laughter on a new CD!

Dan and I had the honor of lending our laughter to a new CD being produced by our good friend Laughing Laura We felt so strongly about this project and wanted to support it in anyway we could, so we drove 14 hours round trip in 2 days to participate. We were so overwhelmed by the trip! By the hospitality of Laura’s father, Burnell, and his gracious offer to spend the night at his cabin on the Mississippi River. What a way to wake up - to eagles and a sunrise over the frozen river. By the warm smiles and hugs we received upon meeting Laura and her husband, William, for the first time. It was like meeting an old pen pal that you felt you know inside and out but had never actually met. How fun to reach out and touch them and to see their joy in their eyes as we laughed with each other! And by the warmth of all the laughers who drove to McGregor, Iowa to support this project. Funny hats were worn by all and added to the lightness of our spirits.

Laughing with the joy of the Lord! That is what the CD is about and what a fun resource this will be for Christians everywhere. Laura will soon be writing about the experience on her blog and when she does I’ll make sure to share it on our Joyful Living facebook page. The Dharma Room was honored to host a poetry reading from three local poets Saturday, February 27. The Dharma Room Yoga & Wellness Center is a space created for everyone to share their dharma, their purpose and passion, and these poets passions spoke loud and clear (and many times with a giggle!) through their poetry.

Charles Luden, Steve Boint and Jason Freeman read from their anthology “From the Lonely Cold”. They also read poetry from their other published books and publications. One of my favorites was from Steve and it was about monkeys at the zoo. It was two lines and too funny!! Ha ha ha!

Laughter Yoga Breakout Session with Dan & Jill Johnson
at the Go Red for Women Conference

We had a great time leading a very enthusiastic group of women during our Laughter Yoga breakout session at the Go Red for Women Conference and Luncheon in Sioux Falls, SD. The Go Red for Women movement celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease, the number one killer of women. Well, these ladies had more than enough energy and passion to elevate the Laughter Yoga session to new heights of joy, good health and spontaneous laughter!

The Laughter Yoga session started by finding someone with a watch to help us keep track of the time. And after every time we asked Leah what time it was we all said together, “very good, very good, yay!” It was a great way to get everyone in a playful mood and to make sure we kept our session on-time!
