Laughter Yoga as Therapy
What an opportunity! We were thrilled to share the many health benefits of Laughter Yoga with Respiratory Therapists at a conference in Sioux Falls the end of September. Having just got back from the All American Laughter Yoga Conference in San Diego we were excited to laugh with these professionals.
Dan and I opened with examples from the therapists on the stress in their lives ranging from paperwork on the job to teenagers. Hahaha! Then we talked about the breath, and particularly the exhale on releasing the toxicity and stress from their bodies. Then we jumped into laughter and the many benefits in the workplace - from laughing in the break room with c
o-workers to gentle laughter exercises they can share with their patients.
We ended with a seated laughter meditation and guided relaxation. From our own personal experience we know that Laughter Yoga takes a certain amount of willingness to try something new - and we're grateful that so many joined us as we laughed for our health and well-being. Laughter is the best therapy of all!
