Laughter Yoga for Nurses and Nursing Aides!![]()
Dan and I had a great time last week celebrating Nurses Week with nurses and nursing aides from Sanford Hospital Canton Inwood. Sharing Laughter Yoga with these gals was a fun treat - especially since Jill’s sister, Heather, and her niece, Elizabeth, were part of the group! Dan also has a connection with nurses through his adoptive mom, Shirley, who was a nurse. Their house was always filled with special needs foster kids that his mother was equipped to serve through her love of nursing.
Not only was it an honor to laugh with these ladies, it was a hoot! It didn’t take long for the inhibitions to come down and spontaneous laughter to erupt. We were hired with the purpose of a fun team-building experience through Laughter Yoga. And while I was talking to their supervisor, Linda, about tailoring the laughter yoga exercises to their needs she commented on what an outstanding group of nurses and nursing aides she has working for her.
So to celebrate their ability to think on their feet and to essentially put out the fires they encounter on a daily basis we did “Fire Extinguisher Laughter”. “Appreciation Laughter” was another laughter exercise that allowed them to give, and receive thanks from each other for all their teamwork. There were some silly laughter yoga games thrown in, just for giggles, and I can say that they were all good deep breathers during the yoga breathing exercises. We finished the session with “Heartbeat Laughter”, and all felt the connection of laughing together as one heartbeat.
We had a great time! Thank you ladies for the awesome work you do! And thanks for inviting to stay for the delicious potluck afterwards. Yummo!
Very good, very good, yay!!!
