Laughter at a Yoga College!
What a perfect place for Laughter Professors - a Yoga College! Hahaha! Dan and Jill had a great time bringing Laughter Yoga and all it’s benefits to a workshop at Connie Reynold’s Yoga College in Sioux City, IA.
Before the workshop got underway we asked everyone what sparked their interest in signing up for the class. So many said they wanted to bring more levity and laughter to their lives - that they knew laughter is great medicine, they just weren’t sure how to create more of it on a daily basis.
So we spent time talking about the benefits of intentional laughter and how ‘motion creates emotion’. Laughter Yoga is based on the concept that the body doesn’t know the difference between real laughter and simulated laughter, that encouraging laughter through playfulness and eye-contact ends up in spontaneous laughter that just feels, well, good!
There were two mother-daughter groups there and we talked about how laughter can shift family dynamics by laughing together in a positive way. Laughter Yoga can shift perspectives which helps alleviate anger, depression and anxiety. And as Martha says, that’s a good thing! A very good, very good thing!
We finis
hed with laughter meditation and a 30 minute relaxation from our Deep Relaxation for Stress Management and Healing CD. Everyone left with their feet firmly planted in the ground, their minds clear and open and with peace and love in their heart. Thanks to everyone who came and tried something new - Ha-ha-happy New Year!
Your laughter professors,
Jill & Dan
